Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

Default What can I do to my 2001 Elantra???

So far i've got cai, 3" cat back to a Tsudo muffler and a big bore TB, with headers in the near future. I guess i'm off to a good start on the performance side of things. But what else is out there for me to get my grubby little hands on. I need to make my elantra faster. Every time I go to Sac Raceway to run the 1/4, I still get showen up by those d@mn hondas. So please help me...
any info would be great.
thanks

Send your IM off to Onpol to get bored and gasket matched.

headers and a Full Exhaust. I would lower the diamter of the pipe from 3" to 2.5" unless you plan on running Nitrous or Forced Induction.

You don't mention a CAI, There are none currently available for the 2001 Elantra...but you can make your own fairly cheaply.

The CAI, BTB/BIM, Headers/Full exhaust should be good for over 20 HP to the wheels.

After that you will have to look into cams, but since the 2001 Elantra uses Shim underbucket valve adjusters rather than the HLA setup the old betas uses, your cam selection is somewhat limited at this time. We will have to see what fun cams come out of Korea or Australia for the new Beta motor.

Besides cams...you can have the valves re-worked/polished, but that can be a hit or miss affair. So really, you are looking at Nitrous, Supercharger, or Turbo, unless you want to start replacing pistions for higher compression, re-doing engine internals.

Any chance there is some BMW style headlight covers? you know how on BMW's there is little rounded things, is there anything that can make the Elantra look like that?

And I'd like some 2K2 Altima style tail lights! They would look sweet on a 2K1 Elantra. And more kits? When will this car get some more products?

Heh, wait till after you see the 2K1 Elantra Hyundai will be showing at SEMA.

Then you'll be asking "What can I NOT do to my 2001 Elantra?"

KORE does not have a CAI for 2001 Elantra. They only have short air intake.
