Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

Default Thinking about getting a moon roof

A local shop is advertising specials on moon roofs for sedans. Been thinking alot about it. Those of you with sun or moon roofs in your Elantra, how do you like it?

number one question to ask: if they do the work is the sunroof guaranteed not to leak or malfunction for life? i wouldnt get an aftermarket sunroof put in without a lifetime warranty on it.

Dont do it. All sunroofs that are added to cars that did not come with one will leak.

I would be skeptical at best, you'd definitely want a kit designed for your specific car, rather than a fits-all-fits-none universal job.

In other news, what's the best way to repair a rusty sunroof sealing surface?

Just like rusty anything else:

Light rust: sand, prime, repaint, use new seals

Heavy rust: cut out, weld in fresh, then follow steps for light rust, above

In my opinion, no matter how cheap, even if it's free, don't do it. It'll more than likely not be done right, and WILL leak.
