Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. Default TACH cluster upgrade for non GLS J2's

Hello Fellow Hyundai Pilots

I Just Bought a silver non GLS J2 elantra, Stickshift with the venerable 1.8L Beta

I love everything about it from it's fun to drive factor and Spartan simple interior, What i don't Like is the generic non-tach cluster i'm forced to stare at when driving,

I did some searches on hp.com and here but found fruitless results,

So I'm on a quest to find out if it's Possible DIY, I'm pretty sure it is if i had a service manual but i ain't got one, so here's what i know about the 2 different clusters so far..

Non-tach cluster use's 3 194 bulbs, tach-cluster use's 5, circuit lead sheet in the back of the cluster

"Green plastic sheet with metallic printout leads" are different on both clusters in terms of arrangement,

the connector socket seem's to be the same measure and width, 2 are same length and other is short & are in different places,

I've done searche's on hp.com and here but only found fruitless results, the reason why i think the tach cluster won't work is either because of the wiring differences in the cluster Harness or simply because the tach signal wires aren't in the connector's on the non-gls Cluster Harness

If anyone want's to add info or advice or possibly give a link to the wiring diagram of the cluster Harness connector pinout, it'd be greatly appreciated
