SR BBTB on 2001 Elantra is installed
Ok, first off, jesus this thing is huge. Two, its not Purple anymore. Its a chrome polished. It does have a cruise control armature, but its a little too narrow for the knob at the end of the cruise cable. You will have to cut/grind the ends off the hammerhead of the cable to make it fit. Do not just take it off one end. do it on both sides, otherwise one end will not be able to seat onto the armature. The idle screw doesn't seem to push on the linkage at all either. You will have to loosen up the throttle cables a little. How? Not sure yet. Havent looked. With out doing this the TPS reads 19% open. It also comes with two rings for the 58 and 61 mm bore sizes. It also comes with a gasket. So you don't have to buy a new one nor cut the hole in the old one to match. Remember guys, the 2001+ Elantra and the 2003 Tibby 4 cyl. BBTB and TB are different than the old elantra/tibbies. They may look the same, but there is a little bypass hole drilled into the TB abd BBTB for air to go by the butterfly when at idle or the butterfly is closed. This hole also extends into the IM. And the end of the BBTB is 3" in diameter not the standard 2 1/2" as the old one. So if you have a silicone reducer it will fit if you nudge it on a bit. but a 3" coupling will be better if you have a 3" CAI. If you have a 2 1/2" CAI then you will need the silicone reducer 2 1/2" to 3" reducer or streach a 2 1/2" silicone coupling over the BBTB.
Overall its a good looking unit.
I will have side by side pics and installed pics up soon.

Warning for 56k'ers the pics are rather big so it might take a while to load.

I won't know about performance feel till I get the car running again. I got some other problems with it that I can't figure out as of yet. But the pedal fells nicer as well. It's not as loose as stock. A little tiny press on the pedal makes the throttle move. smile.gif
P.S. Veniston: you got mail.

Finally, I found someone else with a Weapon-R CAI, I have the same thing, however I'm not sure how to install it, the instructions they sent me werent readable. But as well I notice that you have some sort of extension that brings it out all the way near the fender, where can I get one of those?

I just modified the way it's supposed to be so I can have the cone in the federwell where it belongs, instead of it couped up in their heat shield.
