Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

Which SCCA class are you going to be running in? They will tell you which mods you can have for which class.

The Tiburon bottom end is already very stout. Over 100 ft lbs of torque at anything over 2000-2500 RPM.

To beef up the bottom end, go with 4-2-1 headers, CAI, BTB and BIM, and 2.25 or 2.5" full exhaust. Almost all cams are made for top end, meaning they produce LESS torque at low end. So you will have to compramise a loss at the bottom for a gain at the top.

For suspension....
I would reccomend a set of Coilovers with fully adjustable dampening/rebound (About $2000) if you want to get serious. Otherwise the Eibach spring/strut combo. Also anti-sway bars from Eibach or Whiteline/Selbys, and strut tower braces.

Do they make a rear strut brace for the elantra?? I thought that it would hit the metal behind the seat.

Sam has them listed on the website, but when we tried to fit them on Yamaneko's 2000 Elantra, they would not fit easily. With a lot of "creative fabrication" you could MAKE them fit. My guess is that they fit hatchback much easier than the sedan.

The anti-sway bars should fit the 2001 elantra. Not sure about the Strut Braces. Boogyman would know for sure if the Braces changed for the elantra from 2000 to 2001.

I had a link to there hand book. With all the rules and classes I'll have to look around for it again. But I believe the tiby and the elantra are in the same class.
