Rundown on "The Plan".
OK. I've mentioned before that I am planning on getting a 2K2 Elantra GT and having 8000 to blow on mods. Here's what I have come up with:
1: 205/40R17 Kuhmo Ecsta 712s $800
2: KAAZ, Clutch, Labor $2000
3: Alpine Turbo less UNICHIP $2000
4: Haltec E6K, Sensors, Install, Tuning $2000
5: 440cc Injectors, Fuel Pump $600
6: Custom Mandrel Bent 3" Exhaust w/Random Cat Con $600
7: Misc. crap that will finnish off the 8K and then some (plus whatever snags get in the way).
Anything I overlooked?

cut the price on those kuhmo's in half dude. They aren't 200 bux each, more like 100 in that size. Use the remaining $$$ to get some nice 17's.

Wait on the exhaust until the headers come out for it. otherwise you will have to modify the exhaust piping when you put the headers on. You will also need a new cat when you put the headers on since the stock cat is a vertical cat. Also dont go with the 3" exhast piping. Since you are planning on using forced induction you could get away with using 2 1/2" pipe. If you dont go with the forced induction then go with 2 1/4". Using 3" pipe will take away torque and horsepower.
Go with the stage 3 clutchmaster clutch. The price of the full clutch setup including the housing should be around $300 plus install labor.
Dont forget the CAI after you put the turbo in.
Keep in mind Alpine is not totally sure whether or not their turbo fits the 2001 engine which is the same as the 2002 GT. The same goes for the Alpine supercharger.
Do you plan on drag racing with it or road racing. If you are road racing get the supercharger. I will update everyone on the supercharger/turbo from Alpine as soon as they get back to me in about another week or so.
If you dont plan on racing with it and only want something fun to drive get the supercharger. It will make the car feel as if there is a bigger engine in it.

I think you should get 205/45 R17. Those will be closer in overall wheel diameter than 205/40 R17. Running smaller diameter will make your speedometer reading higher and your odometer will show higher mileage. Check www.c5-corvette.com/tirecalc.htm to compare the measurements. Also www.tirerack.com recommends 205/45 R17 for 2001-2002 Elantra.

I always thought if you were going to run a turbo/sc you should run 3" pipe. But for normal NA engines 21/4" to 21/2" was good. If your running a turbo/sc with 3" exhaust and if you do lose a little low end torque wouldn't recover after the turbo/sc spools up?

I think it depends on the size of the turbo and the level of boost you're running. If you've just got a tame 5 - 7 psi going, then you may not benefit from 3" pipes. But, if you're runnning Red or Onpol amounts of deathboost (15+psi), then you would do well with 3" pipes.
And, I don't believe you ever "catch up" to your low-end torque when your turbo spools up. That's kinda the problem...the turbo isn't spooling up until you're at a higher RPM, and thus outputting enough exhaust to spin the turbine. At that point, you are technically no longer in the low-end torque bracket, because you are no longer at your lowest RPM range.

I think 3" would be fine for forced induction, no matter the boost, because the turbo is a big enough restriction that a bigger pipe is no problem, to a point.
I would think a supercharger would be better for a rally car because of the power improvement throughout the rev range, not just above 3000+rpm (depending on tuning of course). Of course, every rally team out there seems to use a turbo (probably because of durability, i think the charger belt would snap on a lot of special stages).
