Is it necessary to fuse the remote wire?

I have a fuse block for the power wire and the main fuse a few inches from the battery. I know ground wires dont need to be fused but what about remote wires?

There would hopefully be some sort of short circuit protection or power limit in the head unit, but still: It's a power wire - fuse it. Even a dinky little inline fuseholder will be better than nothing.

No. The remote wire doesn't carry enough current to warrant even a 2.5 amp fuse. You can touch the bare remote wire to metal and it won't even spark. It would be like fusing your speaker wires.
