Default I have a question about body kits

Do body kits improve aerodynamics of a car, or are they only just to enhance the appearance? I cant imagine that too many body kit companies actually test their kits in a wind tunnel so this is why Im wondering. Thanks.

At legal speeds, no. For F1 cars, even NASnotaCAR, yes. Although I don't know that NASnotaCAR does wind tunnel testing. F1 definitely does.
