Elantra 2001 CAI
Hi I'm new to all this but I'm getting into it... I was reading about CAIs and I was wondering if making my own would be a better thing than waiting for SR to get theirs in. If so (which I will prolly do) can anyone give me some suggestions on how to do this? 3" aluminum piping seems to be the thing everyone is suggesting on the other posts but I'm still unsure...
Thanks for the help,

For the Beta motor, i would not use 3" piping. The Delta V6 can use 3", but not the I4.
SR will indeed have an intake out for your car, but no ETA on it at the moment.
If you want to make one yourself, I'll have details of how to make a "random special" for the V6 Tibby, and I4 2001+ Elantra up within 2 weeks.

Hey random, I thought the new SR CAI will be 3". Anyway before I made my CAI from 3" piping, installed the BBTB ( no IM bore yet ), removed power steering, and gutted #2 cat, the car was running 16.8 @ 83 MPH with a 60 ft time of 2.43. Now the car is running 16.3 @ 85 MPH and a 60 ft time of 2.55. I lowered the ET by .5 but the 60 ft time lost about .1. You think this is because of the 3" piping or the gutted cat. Thinking the car my be bogging because of too much air, or maybe the lowered back pressure of the gutted cat. Not really sure. Oh and before the custom CAI I made I had the weapon r dragon cold ram air setr up with it modified with the ram air hose a the intake hose and the cone in the fenderwell. Now its the custom pipe with a hiper industries cone.

The I4 (beta) CAI is 2.5"
The V6 (Delta) is 3"
if you have an I4 Tibby or Elantra, you have a Beta
If you have a V6 Sonata or Tiburon, you have a Delta.

question about the CAI will it affect my car if I drive long distance? I drive a lot b/w Toronto and Windsor.
Also i did some searching on your Random Special NICE WORK!!! on the tibi but I'm still confused on where it's supposed to go in the wheel well for an elantra tongue.gif (although I believe it's almost the same place)
thanks for the info I know I ask a lot of questions sorry,

For the 2001+ elantra, it goes into the fenderwell right to the right of the battery
For a 2000- elantra, it goes under the battery into the fenderwell just like the tibby.
