Default Decent soldering iron/kit?

I haven't done any soldering since shop class in my high school days and I need to get a soldering iron/kit. I plan to solder some wires together for something I'm doing in the car and I dont want to just use twist caps and electrical tape.

Any recommendations? I don't need anything fancy but what do you guys all use?

Thanks!

I like my Weller. They have cheaper basic models.

For small stuff:

They also have a 40 watt version for about $5 more.

I have the WESD51 and have never needed anything more.

I went through three harbor freight irons while working on my wiretuck. Don't buy harbor freight ones.

I had a cheap iron, then bought a nice one because I thought I needed it. Turns out, it was the roll of solder I was using. Apparently it got old and corroded. Also, change your tips frequently.
