Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

Default Ceramics or Semi-Metallics?

Those who have an Elantra, what kind of brake pads work best for our cars? Ceramics or semi-metallics? Gotta replace my front rotors and pads this weekend.

Unless you are racing, buy the mid-level brake pads at the local auto parts store. If you are racing, any pads may be inadequate but EBC may be a good brand to look into. For commuting, just don't get the bare-cheapest set you can find. If you can get a set with a lifetime warranty but not from AutoZone, all the better.

If you REALLY wanted to be cheap, you could probably get a used set with a lot of miles left from a local junkyard for very little money.

I put a few sets of pads on the XD and I would say the stock pads are the best of the non-racing type IMO.. maybe it was just my car that liked them.

I have 80000 km's on my OEM 04 Accent pads....... they will need a change soon and was thinking about EBC crossdrilled rotors and green stuff pads. Over-kill? Or should I just stick with stockers??

+1 on getting pads from the junkyard. I used to buy pads for my Civic (Yes, I owned a Civic at one point) from the junkyard, $3 for a set or free if you wore a jacket! LOL!

Ceramic from Autozone. EBCs are good times, but for the cost imho these are plenty for street use.
