Has anybody ever come across any strange anomalies with their cars? Like maybe a beta coming with more than 140hp from the factory by accident or as a rare occurance? I dont mean lemons or things that break quicker than they should. I mean good anomalies.

 

Wasn't there an RD owner from way back in the day who claimed his Tib came with 190 horses from the factory and had it dyno'd? I can't remember his name but it was back in the Team SR and KORE days.

 

There's a guy with a "factory freak" non-turbo Veloster. It's rated at 128hp to the flywheel.

His car with bolt-ons made 167whp iirc.

 

Well, on two different dynos my old GK made 161whp and 193whp with the same mods. Dyno numbers don't mean much unless you're comparing things on the same dyno the same day.



Comparing two cars same day did show that the auto trans is absolutely tragic in a GK V6. My 6 speed top, auto with same mods bottom.

I recall back in the day, people would run 50 shots of NOS or Zex and only run low 15's. For whatever reason, I jetted for a 60 shot NX and ran 14.1's all day.
