Hyundai Elantra Forum The Hyundai Elantra Forum. Later models (96-up) of this 4-door share their Beta engines and chassis with the Hyundai Tiburon. Earlier Mistubishi-based Hyundai Elantras (92-95) are perfect candidates for the popular 4g63t motor swap, which turns the Hyundai Elantra into a real sleeper. These characteristics make the Hyundai Elantra a great car for those who want sports car performance with family car flexibility.

If the specs carry over as well, the next Elantra will be about three inches longer than the Ford Focus sedan and nearly as powerful, down by two horsepower and 15 pound-feet. On the other hand, it will get Fiesta-like gas mileage, returning 40 mpg with the manual and 39 mpg with the automatic.

Wow talk about a civic clone. I mean it looks like they seriously took the civic body and put on a different grill.

It doesn't look anything like a Civic. At least beyond having 4 doors and 4 wheels.

It's a huge leap forward for the Elantra's styling IMO. The Elantra has been a good car, but I never really cared for how they look before this model.

I love the new Elantra! Only thing I don't like is the lack of a spare tire, but I suppose one could be purchased cheap at a junkyard or something.

I agree, but keep in mind, for the first 100,000 miles, Hyundai will cover the towing costs if you get a flat tire.

Hyundai Roadside Assistance makes up for the spare tire

Says you! I don't care what they do. My ride home is out in the middle of nowhere. Be lucky if it didn't take them at least 2 hours to find me. I'd just assume change the tire myself!
