Default X3 Transmission Beta Swap...

Hello, I'm new here, so hello all! I have a 95 Hyundai Accent L and I would like to swap out the old 1.5L to a Beta or Beta 2 engine. Which would be easier? Also, my Accent is manual and would I be able to use the clutch and all that good stuff with a beta or beta 2 engine from an automatic vehicle? Or will I need to find a beta or beta 2 engine that came from a manual engine?

Thanks!

A Beta I will work better for you.

I am not sure about whether the flywheel bolts onto the automatic equipped engine. I want to say yes, but somewhere deep in my brain something is telling me that I heard it doesn't work without modifications at one time or another. I haven't done it myself so I can't say. I'm sure someone here can though.

Thank you very much for responding, I can get a Beta I engine cheaper than a Beta 2 so thats convenient! If anyone knows whether or not the flywheel will bolt on and line up with an engine originally equipped with an automatic transmission, please let me know! I can get an engine from an auto tib cheaper than one with a manual trans, which is why I ask. Once again, thanks for responding!

From 95 through early 97 the Accents' front and rear mounts are on the engine itself. This is a problem because on the beta engines and Accents post 97 the mounts are on the transmission. If you do swap out the trans with a post 97 Accent setup you'll need a beta flywheel and a scoupe turbo clutch. On my 96 I just went ahead and used a beta transmission. The only thing I had to do was to fab up a place for the mounts and use axles from a 2000 Accent with an automatic transmission.

Thanks for responding, so you are saying that if I swap out to a beta engine I will have to swap the transmission to a transmission from a beta engine as well? I'm slightly confused, or will the transmission from the 95 accent still work and mount up with the beta engine? Or will the 95 accent transmission work, and I would just need to get a new flywheel and clutch? I would like to avoid having to make too many custom mounting points as I do not have regular access to a shop. So what is the easiest way to swap to a beta engine in a 95 accent? With the transmission swap too? Is it the same with the beta engine and beta 2 that only the passenger side motor mount don't line up? Thanks for all the help!

You'll have to swap transmissions. The 95 has no provisions for front and rear mounts because they are on the engine. Either use a 97 and later Accent trans that has the mounts or a beta trans. A beta flywheel will be needed in both cases.

OK, thank you very much for your help! I understand now! Hopefully I can get the parts and moneys and do a swap soon!
