Need to move small 500 lb gross low wind resistance trailer about 1500 miles. My Toy Tundra will cost me many bucks for gas compared to my 2001 1.5 manual shift Accent. Owner's manual states thou shall not tow, period. Anyone violated this command?

 

I'll be the first to caution you against it. In the event of an accident, your insurance will most likely not cover it.

 

If you look up the UK specs for the accent it does have a tow capacity of about 800lb unbraked I think. 1300 braked. But do some googling. That's for the 1.6

 

500lbs is 3 people. If the hitch is strong, the car can pull it. Just go easy.

 

the chassis can handle the pulling the extra weight no problem. its the taking turns and using brakes thats gonna b a problem. 1500 miles is a long way to take that risk, its not like ur talking bout driving across town to your buddys house

 

quick question...by the time you buy and install a hidden hitch are you really going to save any money?
