Default Springs for Accent

Hey,

I was just wondering how difficult it is to install a set of those Eibach lowering springs on an 98 Accent. I really want a better suspension set up, so I was considering getting this kit and doing it myself. I've never done it before, however, and just wanted to make sure if it was a good idea or not. I want to get the experience and save myself some money in the process. Thanks for any info.

Advanced Auto Parts.

You need a spring compressor. $20-30

its really hard do by hand. air tools would help.

Get a friend to help.

need a 1/2 reachet for the compressor.

Okay, so I need an air compressor. I'm guessing that the kit comes with instructions, so I won't be totally clueless. Also, I have a friend with Apex springs. Which is better, and are there more options available. I've heard good things about both.

i did it myself on my 2k1 accent with some friends. we didnt use any air powered tools, and it was still a piece of cake. just have to use a little muscle sometimes, but other than that its really simple. just rent a spring compressor, and you should be good.

What exactly do I need the spring compressor for? I feel a bit stupid asking. Also, where can I rent one? I feel a bit better knowing that it's a piece of cake even by hand. If my muscle doesn't work, I got strong friends. I just love team work.

I believe the Spring compressor is needed to compress the spring so the Strut can be disassembled, then remove spring, compress the new spring & reassemble strut, @ least thats how it looks on my 2002 accent, we are planning to do mine ourselves & figure no more than 1 hour per corner...I HOPE
Hers the Spring Compressor we are going to purchase:

or this..not sure if these are MacPherson struts or not that are on my year Accent:

I've heard that you need to let the Springs settle out(have no clue how long) & then align it.
I'll learn more in several weeks when we do mine & I'll let you know more then.

Should always get your tracking and alignment done after lowering your car otherwise your tires will wear unevenly and need replacing quicker + more often
