It's not quite Ram Air, but you're close. It looks good. How long did it take you to install it, or did a shop do it? If so how much? Where did you get the scoop from?

For it to be Ram Air, you need to build an airbox around the air filter, that the scoop can dump into. That will allow the airbox to pressureise with incoming air.

Right now, you are just running outside air over the filter and lowering your under hood air temps. I'm sure the filter is sucking up some of the air from the scoop, but it is also still sucking up air from inside the engine compartment.

Also...when it rains, your filter is going to get soaked, and there is not much distance between your then soggy air filter and your engine. A pressureized airbox would slow the incoming air, and allow it to drop the water. One or two small holes in the bottom of the air box will allow the water to drain out.

well, we I was over at accent1's house, and were going to build the short intake, then I said, "Heh, if I had a scoop, we could probably build a Ram Air", accent1 said, "Hey I have a scoop", a couple of trips later, we were done.

we built the intake out of pvc, and the scoop dropped right into a 3" hole, we cut into the hood. didnt really take long at all.

and i know it isnt a true ram air, hence the "", lol

how would i go about building a pressurized airbox?

To build a pressurized airbox would not be that hard.

You want to build an air tight (or as close as possible) box around the filter, then have a large hole in the top of it that feeds into the bottom of the hood scoop.

Then the air forced into the scoop would pressurize the box. At Low speed/high RPM, the engine would still suck air through the scoop, at high speed, it would pressurize the box and give a "ram air" effect.

hey random what do you think not bad for getto mods huh!

the scoop comes from an old ambulance that I had collected over the years! It is just a blower vent or even an exhaust vent for a boat would do the same thing!

It works quite well you can actually hear and feel the air going into the filter!

I am working on something to plug the hole up for when it rains! Not that big a problem though!

IF we get another chance I might build a plexiglass box around the filter to really make it a true ram air set up but for now this will work!

The intake really mad a big difference on his automatic accent!
