Default Resonators... CAI's... and the like?

I was checking out my engine bay yesterday, just trying to get myself more aquainted with my car. I'm not what you'd call mechanically inclined, but I'm taking it one step at a time.
Everyone who drives an Accent is aware of the triangular resonator that sits before the filter box... And when I look yesterday I noticed there was another piece of equipment that sits behind the filter box and comes from the bottom of the intake pipe. I think that's a resonator too. What I'd like to do is have a CAI made for me, I read that someone had their Accent hoisted up, have the CAI came from the existing mount, and the other half was put up through the bottom of the engine bay, then each have is clamped together and you get your CAI becuase the filter is drawing cool air from the ground instead of from beside the engine. What I want to know, is what has to stay attached to the intake assembly, and what can be removed without screwing anything up?

Going by your screen name, i'm assuming you have a 2001 accent GSi, and consequently the 1.6L DOHC (with MAP sensor). My advice is to wait for either SR or the kompetitors to come out with their CAI, or be impatient and make up a Random Special.

I'm sure Random will correct me if i'm wrong, but to the make the RS CAI you need some flexible exhuast tubing, header wrap, some clamps, and a filter. Attach one end to the TB with a clamp. Run the other end into the fenderwell (or where it will be fed with cold air) and attach the filter at that end.
