I see alot of rear view cameras mounted on license plate frames. Is that the optimum spot to mount them or are there other locations that are just as good?

 

It's probably a lot easier to sell a license frame than a drill bit to somebody who shouldn't be working on cars in the first place. Given a decent wide-enough lens almost anywhere not obstructed to the sides in view of the camera is fine.
