Were the Rally accents all wheel drive? Does anyone have any specs on how they built the transmission, rear axel assembly and driveline? It would be nice if they reproduced these to the general public but I know that wont ever happen. sad.gif

if they did like the STi that would have been awesome. i always wondered why the hell they didn't offer the widebody versions of the Accent WRC and the Tiburon F2 as special editions to promote a racing heritage. they looked sooo awesome in their bare form. afterall, the widebody versions were nothing larger than their current lineup. why? two reasons: the body and components have to follow government regulations. a powertrain and chassis cannot output more than the car's original homogolated specifications. for example, a 1.5L car can only have certain dimensions, FWD. since the Accent was designed for mass production in unspecific regions, it had to follow regulations for all Countries. the second reason is, you guessed it: such a miniscule percentage of people know or care about rally. both would have cost Hyundai more to make than to sell.
both Hyundai rally programs barely existed. both were severely underfunded and inexperienced. both programs barely did any testing--a key to winning races. and unfortunately it wasn't their primary target. they just rallied cars for brief promotion and building up their name. they were in it based on how long the Accent WRC would last and it didn't last long.
after having internal problems in S. Korea, it didn't make sense to continue anything to do with racing. add all that up, and there's your answer.
