Official 1997 accent build thread.
For starters few months I traded my chevy truck for this red 97 accent. I got the car in desent shape. It has a broken door handle and a cracked front clip/bumper. The body has a few minor dents and dings, anyways here are a couple pictures of the car in the state that I got it.

When I got it the stock 1.5 dropped 3 valves. I was going to go ahead and try to fix the head but once I removed the broken valves I noticed the head cracked. Once I noticed that my only 2 other options were to find another 1.5 or just go ahead and find a bigger engine. I ended up finding another engine out of a 97 elantra gls wagon. I was hoping that it would have been a beta 1 2.0l but to my noob knowledge I didnt know that most if not all 1997 wagons had the beta 1 1.8l.
Anyways, here are a couple more pictures of the engine just after pulling it today.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures.
The engine has roughly 68,000 miles. It looks alittle rough right now but its going to clean up real nice. For the time being I am going to clean the car up and start detailing the engine. While im detailing the engine I am going to go through it and do the usual tune up and probably change the timing belt. The car that the engine came from sat for over 5 years so its only wise to do so.
Well thats all for now. I will post more pictures once I get the ball rolling. Thanks for stoppin by!

Thanks for the heads up 187. I have alot to do. Im going to pull all the pulleys off and send them to my friend and have them powder coated. Im thining about going black and red with the engine colors.
I still need to remove the old 1.5 block and tranny from the car so the bay can be pressure washed. Is there any threads here on the forum about wire tucking? I searched but didnt find anything. One of my main objectives is having a super clean engine bay.

I was wondering something, can I use the 1.5 clutch on this 1.8 or do I still need the 1.5 s-coupe turbo clutch? I don't really have 244 bucks to dish out right now.

So with this 1.8 engine, what clutch do I use?
