New Accent Intake info.

The guy whos been helping out with my car works over at Fujita. His girlfriend has a 2004 Accent and he had tried a couple things that he mentioned to me while making her inatake.He acctully found an increase of low end trq using a 2.5" intake rather than a 3". You will gain more trq using a 2.25" intake but the HP level barely passed 100 whp. I'll try to get a pic of the dyno result if you dont wanna take my word for it....lol.

what would be ideal would be an expanding intake..one that starts off 2.25" then grow to 2.50" as the rpms climb, but who knows...thats just NA we al know the only way to really get power from the Alpha is forced induction.

Yeah the Fujita on the Tib V6 is less than 3" piping. Maybe 2.75" or so max.
Some companies are using variable intake runners to simulate the effect you suggested.
We don't know that the only way to get power out of the Alpha is to go F/I. Nobody has parts to do a real N/A buildup and few if any companies have ever even tried. I would bet that a decent replacement CNC head, a nice custom camshaft, some new pistons and rods, plus some balancing and blueprinting of the rotating assembly and fed by a set of ITB's you have similar potential to many other 1.6l engines N/A. 160hp N/A should be attainable with that work, possibly more. The parts just don't exist, and neither does demand so they never will.
So F/I is the path to power with the Alpha more due to the fact that it compensates for a lack of available parts to build a N/A setup properly. Sure, F/I will always make more power than N/A...that's a fact, but it's probably untrue that the Alpha is particularly poorly suited to building up N/A. We don't even know the answer to that question because as far as I know anyways it's never even been tried.

I looked up the specs of the Mini cooper...Its little 1.6 get 115hp, runs 91 ONLY and sits a bit heavier than our accents. Its got a 10.6 comp ratio, ours is 10. Their timming is more advanced, ours is a bit more conservative. so also a bit of better tunning could help out too. Yes I have been wanting to get the heads flow charted/blue printed whatever its called and redone. Also too the size of the valves are larger than ours in the Mini.
