Hey guys,

I got a 2010 Accent GS, its a 5 speed. Nice and light, fun to drive but feels like it needs more get up and go.

What are the typical/most common mods for these cars? If you could point me in the direction of a good website I should be able to take it from there.

Also what type of suspension work can/should be done?

I want to slowly turn this baby into a little monster

Congrats on the addition to your family.

Some of the most common engine performance mods include:

Short ram intake

Catback exhaust

Header

Those will give you a bit more get up and go, but it still won't be very impressive in a drag race to say the least. It is also possible to go with forced induction or nitrous if you want a large bump in power.

There is a lot you can do for the suspension, strut tower braces, sway bars, various reinforcement bars, springs, struts, coilovers, etc. Deciding which suspension mods would be right for you depends heavily on what you want to do with the car.

You should take a look at KFX. Then look through the links in this thread and see what else is available. If you have trouble finding something specific feel free to ask.

The short ram from the '08 parts book was kind of fun. Throttled slightly better in lower gears.

They also offered a strut tower at the time but my current dealers tell me they can't get them any more.

Personally, if I still had the '07 I would have long since done full exhaust, larger rims for sticky tires and stiffer springs with a bit of a drop. Not sure if the D2 coilovers avail for the MC are any good, but if you got a good budget and don't care about warranty that would be fun.

For big performance gain has anyone done a beta or theta swap yet?

Thanks for all the info guys, The links really do help.

As for as performance from this engine there really doesn't seem to be much besides going with a turbo. How much boost can these little engines handle and what are some good swaps to do for bigger gains?

Boost wise that depends on how far you want to take it. On the stock internals I know some people have run 12-14PSI at least, maybe more.

The only popular engine swap is the Beta 2.0l swap (from the Elantra and Tiburon). I have seen pictures of swaps done on the MC Accent, which is your chassis code, but I haven't talked to anyone who has done it. The process is well documented for the earlier Accents. It should also be possible to swap in a Theta engine and get a lot higher output.
