that's a leak, crack in the hose, or clog. make sure all hoses are OEM, and i would even clamp them. it could be that there's a clog in the purge valve or the spring is worn causing it to stick. check the connections first, then replace it. if that doesn't work, get a smoke test done.
it could also be that the canister is full, but that is rare.
the intake purge is supposed to let evap fumes in to burn them off in the engine.
it's been a long, long time so i forget when it's supposed to open and close, but to the best of my knowledge i think it remains closed and opens periodically by activation from the ECU under 12V regardless of driving or at idle.

you should consider that 75% or so of evap problems are valve/solenoid related. If your really concerned about the money for the part and it not working then the junk yard is your friend.

if i had time i would have roughed you a few from the yard. i still think it's a leak on a hose or connection but let us know if replacing it works.
reset the ECU. if all is well the CEL won't go off until the next drive cycle is completed, which is a warming up/driving/cooling cycle and may take a few considerable drives before it shows up as having been completed.

thanks anyways, appreciate the thought
i've also checked for leaks, but only so much one can see without the smoke test. that valve is known to die according to the local dealer, but we'll see if this does it or not.

well i put the new valve in and it did f*ck all. waste of $50...taxes and all.
so what am i left with here? the thing i can't figure out is that the misfire must be caused by the evap vapour going to intake during idle...idle is when it misfires. but if its not the valve, there's nothing else there! its the last stop before the intake!!
goddamn piece of crap.

weird how it's behind your intake manifold!
PCSV - Purge Control Solenoid Valve:

that is what you replaced?
P0441 from hmaservice:
you would have to check the connections via their procedures (i never knew how to test electrical connections)
it's totally different than the Tiburon procedure so i don't know how this works. i would suggest to trace all of the fuel lines to your canister and see their condition. one should go to the tank. one is normally hidden into the firewall or fender for atmosphere evaporation release, and the third one is the purge which flows directly into the intake somewhere to be burned off.

1.
Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2.
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

yup that is the replaced valve. thats why this doesn't seem to make much sense to me. i'll have to give all the lines a good go over at some point, i was just hoping that someone might have another idea that i might have missed. thanks for the help though guys, very much appreciated.
