You gotta remember too Floyd that the MINI isnt advertised for its gas milage so much as its "go kart" handling...Its a heavier car than the accent cause of that. Ive raced newer turbo version MINI S and they are no more faster than the S/C ones...they have about 4 more hp than the S/C ones. I've always killed them 0-60 as well as overall drag speed...even on a pull I had them...5 psi was all I had too. Now keep the accent at the same price just improve the power and I say it should be enough to make it worth while.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(HyundaiKitCoupe @ Aug 26 2009, 04:06 AM) </div><div class='quotemain'>accents are cars of good value and improved quality. i don't like the new ones simply because the old ones have this classic look and shape (similar to Subaru RS) they were top sellers in Europe, and number 1 selling car in Australia for a long time. As a result, Hyundai has an excellent reputation down under. the new accent is sort of basic looking. it is comparing apples to oranges, but if you were a good haggler you could buy the old accent for $6,000 brand new with A/C and warranty!!! try that today!
I still think the mileage could be improved. the Mini gets some 28c 37h. The accent could at least beat the Mini and steal some of its customers.</div>
My 2000 Accent is showing its age... drivers side door is starting to rot out (probably due to the accident I had with a dog at 3 am in the morning... but the mileage continues to impress... Still on the original clutch... I have 238000 miles on the car. I've adjusted my driving habits to the speed limits and do the slow accelerations... I am averaging 40+ miles to the gallon... this past week I took it real easy because I had to make the tank last and achieved 45 miles to the gallon...
People tell me that it is time for a new car... they can piss off... 40mpg is something you don't walk away from.

earlier in the year when gas hit 5 bucks a gallon and people freaked the eff out, there was a commerical for some horrific chevrolet suburban hybrid or something that got better mpg than the mini cooper. granted, it was the boosted JCW cooper s, and it was a highly hybrid'd suburban, AND it beat it by just one mile per gallon, but still. lol
i don't mind the mazda's, except now they have that whole "gaping fish face" thing going on, especially the new 3's. i was looking at the Mazdaspeed 3 for a long time, waiting for the body style, i'm glad i stuck to my sonata. cool.gif a good looking mazda is the rx-8. the rx-8 is nice ride, but guzzles gas like no other. back to the list though, the sentras are to box-shaped, especially the se-r's, and i just plain hate pontiacs, so they're off the list. because i'm an import guy, i like toyotas, but i saw a yaris up close and it's got more hard plastic and cheap materials than the crappy american cars! i know it's cheap but man, i was astounded!
i guess in the end, i'd take the i3 or the accent. simply put, they're nothing special, but they'll get you there for cheap
