I've never seen one in person, so I cannot say.

Someone at Fxtreme bought the HVE carbon fibre inake for the tiburon and was fairly happy with it. The only problem I think they had was minor cracking after about a year. I wish I could remember who it was to give you a refferal, but at the moment, I cannot....sorry.

I'm not sure what kind of "care and maintenance" Carbon Fibre needs, so I would ask HVE about care and maintenance, and how long it should be expected to last.

My guess is that with minimal care, it should easily last 5 maybe 10 years.

I was looking at purchasing one of the CF intakes as well, but up here in canada, I'm worried about rain or snow getting in it. I don't see a bypass valve on HVE's, and why would they? Over there in Australia, beautiful weather all the time.... Even more unfortunate, The AEM and Kore CAI's won't fit my autotragic GSi. Extreme bummer.

This thing is drawing air from a high-up location, so you really wouldn't need a bypass, just a place for rain and melted snow to drain out of your air filter box. If you're trying to use this as a form of CAI, then you'll be better off drawing air from a different location than the front underside of the hood. That CF air intake is too restrictive to serve as a CAI leading to a cone filter. It's essentially a resonatorless replacement of the stock air intake feed, to the stock air filter box.

I think it's mainly for looks and a minor amount of weight redux...

Get it. It is great it bolts on in 5 min. make sure to purchase a K&N filter Part# 33-2161. It is better to get cold from OUT SIDE not just a cone right next to a hot engine.
