I own an 04 accent gl 1.6l DOHC, 124,000 km. Wondering how you can check the crankcase pressure? I know that too much pressure can cause the engine to run rough, which i've been having since march (as mentioned in a length post a little back). Someone told me you can remove the oil cap and put a piece on cardboard over the opening. Don't know how reliable this is or what to look for. So any help would be more then helpful.
Never done one myself, but I googled and found this...

Just yesterday I checked the pcv. I cleaned up with seafoam yet again and rattles like it should. Reason why I want to check the crankcase pressure is because sometimes at idle you can hear a rattle from they engine. Someone said it was a valve problem. But I don't think so because when I remove the hose from the pcv the noise stops. Give it some gas and the noise stops. Plus the noise seems to be around the pcv. It is like there is a lot of pressure and then not back and forth making the valve open and close rapidly.
i would just replace the pcv, they are cheap.
and use a pipe cleaner in the other side that goes into the intake plenum... also does the 1.6 have a vent tube next to the PCV like the beta 2.0?? that goes from the valve cover to the elbow?
if so that could could be gunked up as well causing flow issues.
you could have some clogging issues under/inside the valve cover... i think i remember a DIY or a write up on a beta valve cover cleaning... anyone remember that one?
also, the vent tube that goes into the intake pipe elbow should have a nice flow of air coming out of it, if not, might be a sign of clogging.
edit: i looked through your past topics (questions) and looks like that car has some issues. are you the first owner? can you account for all its oil changes? you valves might be an issue. has the car ever over heated severely?

I am not the first owner. Bought it off my brother in-law. He always did the oil changes when they should be done as have I when I got the car. The car has never overheated. I know there where to f**'ked up valves after the timing belt and head gasket where done. But they were fixed. It doesn't seem like a valve problem as there is no noise and the compression test show good numbers. This problem started after I retimed it dead on. Took me 8 hours but check and rechecked and rechecked. When I got the car back the intake cam was retarded by three and the crank was advanced one. Th3 car had a cam sensor code and ran rich. Ran fine at idle and had no power driving. Now it is crap at idle. Running rich. Odd misfire and has well accent power at speed.
