Default Hood isulation on Accents

I have noticed from recent pictures that all the Accents don't have the under hood isulation. Is that the way they come stock or has everyone just taken it off? All the Elantra's and Tibby's have their's. I am speaking about the pics from the most recent Dallas meeting.

My 2001 didn't have any hood insulation. The whole thing was painted.

*Aaaaccckkkk* Under Hood Insulation is hideous! tongue.gif *lol* I ripped mine off and put underhood Mirror Film in. Just a pain in the butt to do though because I forgot that stuff has fiberglass in it. I didn't wear gloves and I was itching for a couple of days afterwards! rolleyes.gif

What is it's purpose? I'm not clear on the advantage of intentionally trapping heat beneath the hood.

It is more for noise than heat. It also keeps vibrations down. I know that on tibs and elantras that some have stated that under their insulation that the hood was unpainted. I wonder why Hyundai decide differently on the Accent?

Yeah..that pissed me off! The underside of my hood wasn't painted at all under the insualtion. Had to go out, buy paint, shoot the hood, let it dry, and 2 days later, was finally able to install the mirror film. rolleyes.gif Heaven forbid if Hyundai spent that other 2 minutes spraying the rest of the hood. rolleyes.gif
