I have been driving around with a dead brake light. thankfully its just the top one (less likely getting me a fix it ticket). I have managed to grab the lamp out to replace the bulb but came across a problem that leaves me to wonder how to situate this problem. The plug is toasted and is definitely not working. The plug should turn counter clockwise to unlock the plug but as you can see in the pic, its melted. Should I buy a new High Mounted Stop Light, or is it possible to find another plug identical to replace with this lamp?

i thought so, the only problem is the plug looks like a melted smore. the only way i can think of getting the plug off is to force it off by breaking the reflector.

well today, after hunting down for the socket for the lamp, I had no luck finding one. I am in the middle of a project to install LEDs strips in my headlights as daylights. I came across an idea to install LEDs in the High Mounted break light. so far I have accomplished wiring the lights, next step is to get it back into the car. Perhaps i am beginning to prefer this method fixing the light instead of replacing the socket. looks pretty clean in the dark and much brighter tham the halogen bulb!
btw i had to paint the reflector because the chrome was turning brown and i wasn't happy with it so i decided to give it a white paint job.
