Engine Upgrade Ideas?
Can anyone tell me what you think a good first upgrade would be to increase performance? specifically I'm looking to improve the acceleration of my accent 05 1.6L

Nitrous oxide, or a car with a bigger engine. You can upgrade your 1.6 and get it almost as powerful as a mild 2L . . . for the same amount of money as getting a bigger engine decently quick.
That said, intake/headers/exhaust will help any engine at least a little.

I have an LC2 Accent too! Wanna go fast with your 1.6L? Probably not gonna happen. If you install a short ram intake you can make the car "sound" fast.

Buy an engine stand and Beta.
Seriously, I found a complete beta2 from a 2008 for $300. Expect a decent length for a good motor build but after the toil you'll have a ride like no other.

Your cheap and easy option: Nitrous.
Your cheap and (relatively) difficult option: 2.0l Beta swap.
Your expensive and difficult option: Turbo.
I/H/E, BBTB, bored, ported and polished IM, head port matching, phenolic spacer, and TB coolant bypass got me 100whp, 109lb/ft. For a cost far exceeding a Beta swap even if you paid a shop to do it. Running on the 1.6l ECU you'll have at least 115hp and 125lb/ft out of the Beta as installed in an Accent. If I had it to do over again I would have put all the money into a turbo setup.
