I used to have ELM 317 bluetooth i got 3 years ago from amazon for $14 however that thing does not work with 1999 Accent for some reason when i use with Torque on android it connects to adapter but cannot communicate to car ECM staying on "checking model..." status forever.

I guess its because that adapter did not support protocol used by hyundai properly, do you know of any cheap bluetooth dongle that works for sure with X3 model?

Idk about on the X3. But I use the $24 Bafx bluetooth obd2 adaptor with my android phone with torque pro, works great on The J2 Elantra and every other car I've used it on (probably around 25 cars so far)

What i heard is some cheap adapters work on newer cars but not older ones because they don't have support for older protocols.

I guess i be just buying them then return right away if not working and go to next one etc, will go read codes in the shop today to make sure my ECM is not messed up.
