Default Coolant shut off...

Hey, I was reading some threads earlier, and I noticed that some people listed "coolant shut off from throttle body" as one of their mods. I was just wondering how or if this would increase performance.

It just means the coolant lines that run thru the throttle body to prevent a frozen throttle plate in colder climates have been re-routed back to themselves. Giving them a negligible gain in power

well technically, if you pair it up with a CAI and some heatwrap(for the CAI) it'd prevent the air from warming up before it reaches your engine.
Now you'll still warm up the air with the IM because it'll get hot as hades because its attached to the engine block, but the phenolic IM spacer that random and a few other people have been working on should help that part of the equation.

re-routing the coolant lines, probably won't give a significant increase in performance by itself, but if your going the CAI route and live in warm climates, this would probably help in the big-picture.

Anyone installing a BBTB or BTB HAS to do this mod, because aftermarked TB's don't have the coolant lines.

Um yeah. Mine have been re-routed for quite some time since the TB on my car is upside down. No notice in power increase with a CAI and an S/C.
