My Accent is doing "work truck" duties at the moment. I'm looking at getting a kayak or two and I would have to transport them in or on the Accent. Since they're about as long as the Accent I don't think in is going to work. I have no rack since they're extremely expensive for the 3 door LC2 Accent (although if you are selling one let me know). I'm thinking about getting the foam block things and tying down through the doors and down through the hatch from above.



Anyone have any experience with anything like this? Downsizing the number of vehicles kind of sucks.

 

So, there may have been many methods. I'm going to build a roof rack specifically for the Accent but I didn't have time. This is how I got my new Lifetime Tamarack 120 Angler kayak home.



It's a $450 kayak, supposed to be on sale at Sports Authority for $379. Pretty good deal. At the Sports Authority by where I work they didn't bother separating the Angler model from the $100 cheaper bare-bones standard Tamarack 120 so they had a $299 sale sticker on it. Knowing what kind of deal this was I jumped on it. I can't wait to take her out and see how she does.

nice what about getting some straps and attaching it to the roof?

 

I don't want to scratch or dent the roof, and front and rear tie down locations aren't really accessible without potentially damaging the bodywork.



I am going to build a rack, just haven't had time to start the design yet. If materials are too much I'll just buy another Jeep.

 

I took the rear seat out of my '08 hatchback and put 7-55 gallon bags of empty beer cans in it to take to the recycle center. There was still room for me and the pug too.

 

Thats pretty cool. How did you secure it inside the car so it didnt slide out and hit cars behind you?

 

Pressure from the bungee cords holding the hatch down plus the friction from the non-slip pads. I yanked on it it won't go anywhere.



I just bought another one of these. Not sure if I can transport 2 in the Accent or if I'll have to build that roof rack now.
