what he said.

If you bore the TB, you'll need a new butterfly plate. There's no way around it.

The stock TB (52mm) on an Accent isn't very big. When I asked this question (I was considering doing the same thing). Random suggested not going larger than 55mm, if you go too larger, the air will slow down & you'll loose forward velocity/momentum.

If your still think about doing this also see if that machine shop can "trumpet" the TB. Starting large at the upstream side of the TB, then narrowing down the TB at the butterfly or just before.

So, you'd be better off shopping the boards or checking your local junkyard for a Tib TB! That'll fit with very little modification (97-01 I believe will work).

Hope this helped you!!!

The tib TB wont fit the 1.6L DOHC due to the way the 1.6L has its idle air bypass.

boring out the stock TB on the Tibby, and also machining the IM, gasket matching the IM ports, and polishing the last 6" of intake runners showed a 3.5hp and 3.2 ft lbs gain. This was stock to stock comparison (stock airbox, not cai).

With a CAI, the gains will be less, not more, as the CAI already flows so much better than the stock intake system.

it's better to just go with a tb that was machined at a certain diameter than to get your stock unit bored. it might cost more, but it's worth it.
