Make sure that the MAF is pointing the corect direction. There should be an arrow show air flow.

check if you have a tight seal on the MAF sensor's hose clamps. I dont think you have a bad MAF sensor though, to me it looks flipped because you should see the arrow pointed towards the throttle body.

The hose with the breather filter is for the idle air bypass. This is where your engine gets its air when the throttle plate is closed (like at idle for example wink ). Since its no longer drawing air from the intake tract, the MAF sensor is not getting a reading at idle, therefore the car thinks its not getting any air and cuts all fuel, causing it to stall.

Reinstall the part of the stock intake where the hose with the breather ran too and connect the idle bypass hose back up to the intake. Reset the ECM, and it should be all better.

Skierd is absolutely correct. Big_al is probably thinking of the return line from the crank case, those can use breather filters.

If the air to the bypass valve is not measured by the MAFS, no fuel will be injected, therefore your engine will not run. No debate available on that point.

Its probably there, you might not have caught it, most likely they have an elbow at the throttle body clamp, and then the MAP/MAF sensor points forward, similar to how KORE's CAI is designed.

yes it is possible, 1.6 Dohc engines dont have MAF senrors nor temp senrors
they are built in to the intake manifold
