accent short ram intake
Hey everyone!
I have a 98 Accent sport and am trying to fit a short ram intake under the hood and dont know what to do with the oxygen sensors. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
Also, I currently just have a custom job going with the stock intake without the resonator and filter box, with a cone filter on the end. I removed the piece with the hose coming from it and put a breather filter on that hose. But as soon as I made this set up when I try to start up the car it wont run. It turns over and whatnot, but when it tries to idle its almost like its starving for air and then the engine cuts out. It doenst do this when I rev the engine though. Just wondering if anyone can help me out with this!! thanks very much!

ok, thanks!!
but now my problem is still this:
ok, I just redid my air intake with a kind of custom job, and now for some reason
(im not even sure if it is related or not) my engine wont start now!! Its a
standard 1998 Accent Sport. When I try to start her she turns over but than
just dies imediatly! I didnt change anything on the car except the intake! I
put a breather filter on the hose coming from the stock intake and put a
cone filter inplace of the stock filterbox and resonator.
Also, when I start her and rightbefore she cuts out if i rev the engine
above 2000RPM she works fine! but as soon as i take off the gas it cuts out.
If anyone can give me any help it would be so awesome of you!
I would bring it into the dealer, but it wont even start so i cant get
there.

Did you put the intake air temp sensor into your intake? It was originally mounted in the airbox...
Also, try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes to reset the ecm.

uh...this may sound stupid, but what is the MAF sensor?? and I dont think i have anything on backwards, becasue i didnt really change anything. Im going to try resetting the ecu becasue i did have the air temp sensor out for a day or two while driving it and the check engine light had come on, so im thinking it might be sending an error code. hopefully that'll take care of it....i'll let you all know.
MAF= Mass Air Flow sensor, it measures how much air is going into the engine, it's the hard plastic tube with some wires running connected to it, it's attatched on one end to the rubber tube that attatches to the throttle body(the one with the little hose running to the idle control actuator) and one the other end to the flexible rubber hose that attatches to the stock air box

hmm, well I didnt unplug the maf sensor, so i doubt it could be that, but Im also hoping that i didnt damage it in anyway! i didnt touch it or drop it or anything though, i guess its just my paranoia! lol...Well I currently have the battery unhooked, i wasnt sure how long it would have to be off to reset the ecu so im just leaving it off for an hour. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Just so I know, is there anything else that has to be done to reset the ecu other than just disconnecting the battery? also, is there any way on a hyundai to find out what the error code is other than bringing it into the dealer?
ok, heres the latest news. Resetting the ECU didnt work sad.gif so, I decided to take some pictures of what its looking like right now. You might see something i cant!
ok, the piece with the temp sensor and the filter on it is the old piece where the hose goes into. I had to cut off the part where the hose fit on it, so that is why I havnt just set it back to the way it was. I dont know if this helps, but if anyone might have an idea please let me know!!
Also, does anyone know what a new MAF sensor costs incase for some reason mine has gone bad? thanks guys! youve been great help so far!
