accent intake help
hey guys i want to install a cold air intake on my accent. i would like to run it down into my wheel well like the random special.
oh and i already did a search but i still got a few questions:
since my car is the 1.5 i need to run the intake after my sensors and what not right?
also can i use the flexible piping for what i want to do or must i go with something solid like pvc pipe or maybe some aluminum?
what size pipe connects directly to my throttle body?
if i go with something solid what kinda connectors should i use to make the appropriate bends?
how hard is it and how long does it take to cut out the plastic where my filter would reside?
also who would carry the heat wrap stuff that you guys use?
thanks for all your help

2.25 inch flex exhaust tubing is what i used. it fits the stock air intake hose. i dont know whats best but thats what i used. i picked up everything from home depot and autozone. cost 75$ total.
JC whitney has the tape stuff.
The connectors your going to pick up at a hardware store... they are for plumbing i think... or you can buy ones on line actually made for high temp....
Cutting the plastic piece takes 2 minutes. i used a steak knife. its really thin plastic.

so the actual name of the flexible piping is "flex exhaust tubing" and did you get that at autozone or at like Home Depot?
also which filter did you get and from where (suppose autozone)?
And how was the performance increase? noticeable, not so noticeable?
thanks

OK Doods, I have a 1.5L as well & I used both 3 inch & 2.5 to make mine!
I tried only using 2.5 all the way, however I was not getting enough air around the 2 elbows I had to use.
So I used 3 inch elbow (coming up from under the battery plate) at the air filter & went to 2.5 with an addapator @ the MAF sensor.
Sounds & runs great!!!
Plus I put in a bypass tongue.gif
