Hyundai announces plans to commence the sales of its all-new 2011 Hyundai Accent 1.6L GDI at the beginning of next month.
The all-new 2011 Hyundai Accent, which made its official debut as a Solaris concept vehicle about a month ago, will go on sale in Korea on
November 1st. Ahead of its official domestic sales debut, Hyundai began taking pre-launch orders for its new Ford Fiesta rival.
The 2011 Hyundai Accent will be fitted with Hyundai’s all-new 1.6L GDI engine, which is also rumored to be available in the 2011 Hyundai
Avante. Hyundai’s 1.6L GDI four-cylinder engine features the automaker’s latest gasoline direct injection technology, which enables the car to achieve segment-leading horsepower output and class-leading fuel economy figures.
The state-of-the-art 1.6L GDI unit generates 138 horsepower and 122 lbs.ft of torque. When mated to the all-new six-speed automatic
transmission (available for the first time in the Accent model range), the new Accent achieves impressive fuel economy figures of 16.7 km/L, which equals to 40mpg -US. This is far better than the current model does.
Speaking of the Accent’s powertrain technology, let us tell you that the same engine/gearbox combination is available in the Korean-market
Avante sedan, which is a rebadged 2011 Elantra sedan.
The all-new Elantra compact sedan will make its US premiere at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show in November and is expected to go on sale accross the States in the first quarter of 2011. According to Hyundai, the redesigned Elantra sedan will be built at the automaker’s US manufacturing plant alongside popular Sonata mid-size sedan.
Yeah, I have to admit, this new accent is going to be tempting. Maybe even more tempting than the Volster, when/if they ever unveil it officially.
Definitely digging both interior and exterior.
