Can a used ECU be programmed for the new VIN? I purchased a used ECU from LKQ Online then proceeded to a nearby Hyundai dealership where the shop foreman advised me the VIN of a used ECU could "not" be rewritten. Is this true or can someone else perform this service?

 

That depends on the OEM diagnostic computer system. At Nissan, using Nissan's "Consult 3 Plus", I could rewrite a VIN. Perhaps Hyundai's system can't.
