1999 Accent Stereo Removal
It depends on what kind of heater controls you have: round dials or sliders/levers...
If you have round dials, I can't help you.
BUT,
I have the sliders, and I had the same problem.
With the sliders, there are metal cables that connect them to the vents they control.
To get the trim to pull far enough away to the stereo in/out, you need to disconnect the cables from the vents.
To do this:
Stick your head down by where the pedals are. This is uncomfortable, but if you look behind the centre stack, there will be two white plastic things with the heater control cables attached to them.
Pull the cables off the white things.
Then open your glovebox. Take everything out of it. Then pull it down so it's hanging, allowing you to see what's behind it.
There will be a third white plastic thingy in there with another cable attached. Pull the cable off here as well.
Now you should be able to pull the black trim piece away far enough from the dash to let you pull the stereo out.
Don't pull it out too far... just pull it out far enough to get the head unit out/in.
Any more questions, post them, and I or someone else will give you an answer.

If you have the round dials it will be easier than with the sliders. Justunscrew the ashtray bolts and pull the bezel gently. Be careful with the hazard / rear wiper wires. Hope this helped...
