Default 1.6L beta/alpha.

Ok i was doing some research on turbos, an i stumbled upon a post talking about 1.6L Betas an Alphas. Betas are only in Elantras an Tiburons correct?
So there is a "kit" for the 1.6L Alpha, which would be the Accents motor right...

Shark Racing will be carring the RPW line of stuff shortly.
There are turbo kits for the 1.5 SOHC, 1.5 DOHC, and 1.6L. Power output is listed at 127 KW or 170 HP. That is with stock engine internals (pistions and rods) and a thicker copper gasket to lower static compression. (6-10 PSI with intercooler)

In theory, the kit is capable of higher boost levels and higher HP levels, but the Pistions would have to be replaced with lower compression units. Also, I'm not sure what the Alpha engine block and crank are capable off. I know the Beta's block and crank are good to 600 Wheel HP in korea, but I have no idea how strong the Alpha block and crank are. Cheuk in Soul would be the best person to answer that question. If the Alpha's good to 300 HP, that just might be a viable option for you Accent owners...

I would like to know more about the RPW line of turbos for the 1.6L. Any other comments or contributions would be nice!

The 1.6l in the 2001 and up accent is a beta engine not an alpha engine. Even though is low in liters like the 1.5 its like the 1.8 and 2.0l engines more than the 1.5. The 1.5 and 1.5 turbo(scope) are alpha engines. 2.7 V6 is delta.

Oh yeah Random Let us know more on that turbo bit. Whats it include and whats the cost/setup

If the 2001+ 1.6L engines are BETAs then the kit wont work with our cars. Or this is what im lead to believe from the rest of that post.

I was under the impression that the Accent engines are Alpha's, the Elantra's and Tiburon's were Beta's, and the V6's were Deltas. As you can tell by my name... I have a 2001 GSi, 1.6L Alpha Engine. {Correct me if I'm wrong}
I too, would like to have more information about the turbo for my car. Even if I had 200whp, I'd be more than satified.
