Default 02 Accent Transmission Problems

My wife has a 2002 Accent Automatic Tran with about 125,000 miles on it. She had a new transmission put in it around 64,000. Its now starting to have the same symptoms the old tranny had before it was replaced. It suddenly loses power either when you first hit the gas or even while your driving and also roughly shifts from Park to Reverse or Reverse to Drive. I blue booked the thing and its only worth around $2,500 or so. I'm looking to take it in to have it looked at to see what the damages of repairing it are going to be.

I've done the following already:

- New TPS

- New Plugs & Wires

- Transmission Fluid Flush

- Cleaned up the throttle body

Wanted to get thoughts on this and see if its worth my time, otherwise I may just junk the thing and have her drive or third vehicle till we can afford a new one for her.

Figure out when it is acting the best, warm after a long driver etc. Then try and trade it in before the sales guys figure out the trans is toast?

I'd probably get squat on trade in though, I know KBB isn't always the greatest measure, but it was under $1K for sure. I also forgot to mention that its makes a squealing noise when you're backing up and you turn the wheel. I figure thats the Power Steering pump maybe going on it.

How often do you change the tranny's oil?

Eh, I can't say too regular, but I've checking it when I change oil on the car and seemed good(at least the color of it). I'd totally swap a manual tran in, but my wife doesn't want to learn how to drive manual. I tried teaching her on my old truck and then again when I got my Tib.

Check the N.A.D.A. book value,,,That is what all dealer and insurance companys use when putting a value on a vehecle. You could try a bottle of Lucas trans slip fluid for 12.99 at auto zone or walmart,,Use the whole bottle and drive the car around for a couple of days, to make sure it has a chance to work through the trans.
