Default Throttle position sensor

hi, to make a long story short the other day I had a problem with my car and the dealer fixed it and said it was the throttle position sensor. I have a '02 accent that I havent even been driving for a year yet. is it unusual to have something like this go on a newer car? I dont know much about cars yet so I was just wondering.

thanks

TPS, on a tib atleast is a known problem

If you have a "DAESUNG" TPS, get it replaced.
There's a TSB on it. It should be replaced with a "Kefico" TPS.

Actually,... hell here is their webpage, stumbled upon it just now:
http://www.kefico.co.kr/products/en/products.html

(TPS, second from bottom)

When it comes to electrical things, there is always a failure rate. Even on 100% new items. They should, and probably do test them before they get installed on the car, but that doesn't mean a weak solder joint or marginal resistor didn't last 2-3 months, then break/die.

We've come to expect "flawless" performance from all of our electronics, but at the same time, things can and do "break", even with the best brands. If the same unit goes bad again...yeah, then I would say something is wrong, but a one time occurance shouldn't be anything to worry about.

lets just say I'm on my 3rd tps, 4th o2 sensor etc etc. electronic parts tend to fail more in hot engine bays to, this is normal actually. Now we also have a neon, it's on it's 2nd head gasket and it's a 2002 neon to, no mods. the 2001 neon weh ad got replacedd under the lemon law, now thats quality for ya.

Apparently I am in need of a new TPS. Where can I pick up one of those Kefico sensors? Can it be ordered through my Hyundai dealership, better yet the one in St. Charles???

They should actually have them in stock because it's commonly changed out in Tiburons. I forgot how much I paid for mine... but not too expensive.
