Default Steering Wheel Shakes

Ok... I put my new wheels in yesterday and when i went driving with them I felt my steering wheel shake as I was driving at around 40mph. Does any1 know what the problem could be?? I was wondering if it could be that maybe one of the wheels were not balanced right?? I dunno. Thanks for your help.

Either dented wheels, bent control arms, or a bent frame. Had something similar happen to me when I got in an accident...involving a guard rail...and me....

hope this helps.

yea I just got into an accident about 2 months ago and they said I needed 2 new front struts so I brought it back to the place that did the body work and they sent it out to their alignment guy and he said I didn't need struts and everything was fine so I brought it back to my job and they still sid I needed 1 new front strut, I then brought it somewhere else that had no idea that I got into an accident and they said that my camber was off, so they fixed that. I dunno wut the fcuk is wrong with my car. It hasn't been right since I got in to the accident.

Since you just put on new wheels, that is where the blame is. Did you install hubcentric adapters with your new wheels?

If not, call www.tires.com (number on their website) and order hubcentric adapters for your wheels/model car.

That should solve your problem. If it does not, consider taking a hard look at your rotors and bearings.

How would I know if I need the hubcentric adapters?? I have a 2k1 Tib. There were also 2 screws in the hub that I had to take out in order get the wheels on, if I didnt they would have been all out of wack and screwed up, know what I mean?

Taking the screws out most likely didn't cause the problem. tires, wheels, anything new needs to be checked. Buying aftermarket wheels for our tibs is a tricky thing. But who knows, maybe its just a tire? rolleyes.gif
