Default Shifter Bushing Removal Not Gone Well

Hey guys, while back I picked up the KJB bushings and I'm on the final one. I am attempting the vertical one closest to the fire wall, and it's unbelievably stuck. How did you guys get it? At this point mine is quite worse for ware

*Edit are picks not allowed here? I can't seem to post one....

I think I used pliers and something as a cushion so the metal wasn't directly on the bushing. Smashed the crap out of it. Worked great after that.

If you're talking about removing a stock rubber bushing to get an aftermarket bushing in there, use brute force and sharp objects. Carefully.

Removal can be difficult, but it should work well with a flathead screwdriver. i had some trouble too but keep trying with the screwdriver and eventually it will give up.

If you're referring to putting in the new one, you must put the new bushings in the freezer for a few hours. that will cause them to contract.

Yea removal is not good at the moment. I have only half the rubber left on it ( while it's doing it's daily duties) so I need some sort of idea. I have been prying at it, vise grip type twisting it, added some penetrating oil in there....Hmm there are fuel lines in the way would I have to burp the system if I unhooked them?

Fuel pump will force air out in short order, with some possibly horrible/non-running until it's gone. Just yank the frikken thing. Are we talking about the bushing I replaced with a skate board wheel bearing in my car? On top of the transmission? With rubber ears holding the rubber smooshybushing in place in a metal loop at the end of a shifter cable? Cut the ears off the top/bottom of the bushing and force it out.

Finally got the thing off the other day. Had to wiggle it minch by minch with vise grips just to get it to move. Lol it's so chewed up now, looks like its got teeth.

Just a note on the happy side, I noticed a big difference with this upgrade, worth the bother for sure.
