Revision A... Evolved!!!
Well this whole thing started when I got my AEM intake for a great deal. I was all excited until Autobot said, "Yeah that's great, now you gotta put that thing in the for sale section and get youself an AOS instead... YOU REVISION A LOOOOSER!!!"
Well he said most of that I might have added a little too...:hmmm: So I really wanted this AEM right, so I set out on a quest to move my beloved "charcoal canister". Shortly after this I bought the front clip off a wrecked 2000 and took the engine, tranny, sunroof, seats, AND ECU (with the WHOLE wiring harness). I decided to make my 1997 into a 2000 minus the spider eyes, hehe. I soon ran into a problem. The plugs on the new harness didn't match the ones I had and I thought I could fix this by adding the new canister off the 2000 tib. I looked at the fuel system pages in both Rev A and Normal tibby manuals and found out I'd have to do this. I had to find a way to get all of this into my car (new lines BLUE, new tank RED, new canister PURPLE http://www.flyryde.com/images/RD/fue.../newsystem.jpg So I pulled out the old tank http://www.flyryde.com/images/RD/fuelsystem/2tanks.jpg and the lines which required me to drop both front and rear suspension include the rack and pinion up front http://www.flyryde.com/images/RD/fuelsystem/randp.jpg single handedly installed the new tank (NEVER EVER DO THIS). bolted it down http://www.flyryde.com/images/RD/fue.../tankmount.jpg I found a odd *** sized bolt for one end of this mount. http://www.flyryde.com/images/RD/fuelsystem/bracket.jpg and drilled and tapped a new one (WHERE RANDOM SAID I WOULDN'T HAVE TO,hehe) Randoms spot "It'll work!" BLUE and the new hole I had to drill RED http://www.flyryde.com/images/RD/fuelsystem/myhole.jpg and mounted the new canister like all you guys have stock damnit! http://www.flyryde.com/images/RD/fue...m/canister.jpg and this all came about because I wanted REAL cold air intake and my buddy Random, introduced me to my little friend here. http://www.flyryde.com/images/RD/fue...ldcanister.jpg Oh and the total cost of this mod---0.00 |
NICE!
lol :D |
As a rev. A owner, I must say I admire your persistence.
To combat that stupid cannister, I moved my battery to the trunk and put the filter there. a "still love my rev A. " c |
Well I have one tib now that's not Rev A but I still have the green tib that is soooo. I cant hate em too much. I'm gonna run some lines down to the rear bumper and put the canister off the green one back there.

that's a lot of work for a freakin intake. good job, though. i would have saved all of that time and energy for a turbo wink

Rev A club!!! so you swapped to a 2001 spec? how is it running thus far? how clean was your gas tank if you checked?
love your diagrams. mine were color coded as well. |
Actually everything came off a 2000. Pretty sure anyway. Same damn thing tho. I dont know about the tank. What I do know, is that the car I used as a donor only had 10K on the engine, trans, fuel lines and tank, etc. I basically raped it for everything but the twisted frame, and implanted it. Since I swapped the whole interior, and dash, etc. even the gauges were from the same car as the motor, the first mile I drove on the engine and trans just picked up where it left off on the odometer. That was 55,000 miles ago, and I drive the car to work everyday. The first mods I did to this car will likely be the best and biggest mods I do to any car ever, and I can live with that smile.gif Granted all the other cars will be better, lol
