Default Puddle Of Oil

Can anybody tell me why there is a puddle of oil on top of my transmisson? Where might it be leaking from?

Thanks

Shawn

Stupid question from me man, but did you recently change/fill the oil? Did you have someone do it for you? Clean it up and see if it comes back. Also, see if you are loosing oil. Measure your oil on your Dipstick with the engine cold and level. Then wait a day or two and do it again.

Its been around 2 months.

Did you have someone do it for you?

I take it to the dealer.

Clean it up and see if it comes back. Also, see if you are loosing oil. Measure your oil on your Dipstick with the engine cold and level. Then wait a day or two and do it again.

I cleaned it off 2 weeks ago, checked it last night and another puddle had formed. I'll do what you suggested and report back on the oil level.

Thanks

Shawn

Ok, I checked the oil level and it's down a little bit but nothing to worry about. I was told it might be oil coming out of my air filter, on my short ram intake. Any possibilities of this? The puddle is on top of the tranny under the shift linkage(i think thats what its called)

Thanks

Shawn

I'd say check all you fluids starting with your tranny since you've already checked the engine oil.

i have the same issue,i call it an issue and not a problem, cause its been that way ever since i got the car, you have an automatic right, well if you look on the top of the tranny, in front of the puddle, youll see a little rubber nipple looking thingy, thats definetley an overflow valve of somesorts, I'd say it leaks an 1/32nd of a quart every month, not really a major leak, i guess it never affected the tranny so i never looked into it, I had the oil changed at 30000 and the mechanic said it wasnt a problem. If you take it to the dealer let me know what they tell you about the nipple.
