Hi all... i've a problem.
it's an ossession for me!!!
I have a strange noise during early engine warm up ...
it's udible for 2 minuts in the 1000-1300 rpm range, then it disappear...
it also disappear revving up engine.
it sound like a diesel engine noise.
and this awful noise seems apparently to come from engine block! not to come from valve cover!
is it normal? or i've bad hla at 6500 km? and why only in the 1000-1300 rpm range?
my dealer won't check my car. he say it's regular noise.
are your engines noisy at cold startup?
any help would be appreciated.

it seems a sort of clack clack clack
a clack simil to a diesel engine
not a ticking noise...
i've done oil change at 1400 km and 5000 km
used agip sint 2000 at first oil change and
castrol gtx3 (both 10w40 semisinthetic) at second oil change. we have variable temperatures between -2 and 45.
but no difference in the noise between two different oils.
so your engines aren't noisy at cold start?
yes the car it's new ... 6500 km

most engines seem to make a little noise when the first start up! Even mine does but it gets quiet pretty fast you may want to hook up a external oilpresure guage to make sure that your oil pump is ok at start up make sure that you have enough oil preasure!
MIne goes up to almost 80 psi when I first start up then it usually hovers around 60psi until it warms up then about 20psi and it goes up from there as the rpm gets higher!
I run Mobil 1 5 w 30 synthetic
also you are sure that the noise is comeing from your crank case?

my experience ...
NOISE IN MY ENGINE HEAD (hla or valves!?!?) WAS CAUSED by high oil level ( > 3.7 liters ) !!!!!
Reading hma service i noticed that too high oil level may be cause of aeration or cause of defective oil pressure in warm up and in prolonged use.
So, tired from this awful clacking noise, i did this hopeless test.
Using a syrinx and a medical catheter i dropped a little my oil level taking out about 350-400 cc oil through dipstick duct until my oil level was a little more over middle point between two marks...
suspance... i started engine and NO MORE NOISE !!!!!!!!
Unbelieving i retried in the evening and NO MORE NOISEEEEE !!!!!!
may an excessive oil level ( > 3.6 , 3,7 ) overload oil pump?
or my pump begin to be faulty?
or my dipstick reading is incorrect?
my manual says that correct oil level is between the two marks but, in oil change, car must by filled up to max point in the dipstick ... but at max dipstick level engine become noisy, perhaps normally (!!?!?), during warm up.
opinions ???

I have the same problem and have no idea what it is but mine has started to get worse I have had it to the dealer and they said nothing is wrong if I figure out what it is I'll let you know I'm leaning towards a bearing thow.
