Many cars use 3" mafs. However, it's not that easy. You need to find a maf that is calibrated the same way that our standard MAF's are.

If you were to just remove your MAF sensor and put it in a 3" tube, it would read low, as the maf is calibrated for the diameter tubing that it is in. If you were to just slap in say a GM 3" maf, the voltage/readings that the GM maf returns might not match the Hyundai MAF, and you could run into all kinds of problems.

At this point in time, there is no "MAF Replacement/upgrade".

If I remember right, someone did swap a tibby MAF with an accent MAF. It worked fine for awhile, but kept fowling his plugs because of running too rich (Tiby MAF read higher than the accent MAF, so the ECU dumped more fuel). I think eventually he went back to a standard Accent MAF.

Don't quote me on that, as it is from memory. It WILL work...I just don't know how WELL it will work.

I have no clue as to how you would go about recalibrating a maf. So the answer is Unknown.

you were close Random but the other sidde of the spectrum!
The larger mass air gave me a lean condition.

I contacted a few places that modify mass air sensors and he suggested running the same injecters from the car that the meter comes from he said that it may help the lean condition that I had!

Meters and injecters are desighned to run together Ihave not tries this yet but I will soon enough!

I have not ever had my SAFC tunned for the new meter but this piggy back comp. would help solve any problems with fuel you would have!

The only other thing that I can suggest is a stand alone computer for the ecu that is fully adj so that you could tune the meter to the needs of the engine.

When I get around to changing those injecters I will post to let you know how it worked! smile.gif

Cool, thanks for the update, and the correction.

Their theory is use the larger injectors.

It's bass ackwards...but it just might work.

I'll have a spare set of tibby injectors going fairly cheaply soon (pay shipping), or you can contact OnPol. I'm not sure if he kept his stockers around...but if he did, you can try Tibby injectors in your accent to see if that fixes the condition.

ok i was told by someone that the stock maf is 54mm and i could bore it out to 58mm but that realistically is only 2.28 in.
is this correct?

You do not "bore out" a MAF sensor, it's plastic. You simply replace the entire MAF sensor, or disassemble it into it's descrete pieces and put it inside a bigger tube.

I think that person you talked to was thinking of throttlebodies.
