#3 is a second cat thet was only installed on the 2001 tibs.

I have a 2000 Tib and I had 2 cats, I thought #3 was a resonator but now that I looked again it looks like a cat.

... Too many restrictions in the exhaust either for emissions or sound.
If you replace everything with a pipe and keep the manifold, cat, and muffler, you will not notice much gains. The sound will be a mechanical buzzing sound and it will be a waste. I'm saying this because I've tried it.
If you want to have exhaust work done, I would save up and do it all properly the first time.
(headers, free flow cat, pipe, and performance muffler)

I would have to disagree with you Random, I've taken my exhaust off and checked, on my car #3 is a 2nd Cat.
I have a good pic of it with my custom exhaust (I reused it) if you would like to see it.

actually... that makes sense, why would they put the resonator b4 the cat?
